The Association were invited to participate in the Cyrenians Midlothian Community Hospital Garden Open Day on Saturday 18 August. Participating gave us the opportunity to spread the word about Bee Conservation and engage with the public in discussing the Art and Craft of Beekeeping. Just short of 300 people attended during the afternoon and a good number of them visited the NBA stall. The rain threatened but stayed away and we were able to engage with our visitors in different ways including selling them a jar or more of Newbattle new season honey or a Beeswax candle made by Lorraine using the recently purchased molds.

We sold 57 jars of honey during the afternoon as well as candles and honey dippers. The total raised was in excess of £250 and it will provide a small but useful boost to association funds.
