G'day NBA members. This is a notice for change to the apiary clear up day:
I posted a request on Wednesday for help with the apiary clear up this Saturday. Many thanks to those who said they would be there. While the sun is shining this minute, tomorrow's forecast is rain from 11 am onwards :-( So... the clear up day will be rescheduled to Saturday 29 July - weather permitting. I will send out an invite for your calendars. Happy beekeeping till then

Our bees are in serious decline. We have lost over 50% of bees through disease, loss of habitat and intensive farming. Many crops are pollinated by bees and without them we are in trouble. Please log into the Chuffed fundraising site and give generously to help create the Newbattle Bee Academy to train an army of future beekeepers to help stop the downward trend of bee mortality, and provide an ongoing sustainable environment for nature's amazing little helpers on which the world so heavily relies.
We are pleased to let you know that registration for the Queen Rearing Workshops on 5th and 19th August near Perth is now open to all. We still have some places left for both days. The fee for the day of £40 includes lunch. Booking details here: http://taybees.co.uk/?page_id=23
Another big event today was the move of our stuff from the college apartment to the student hut. Huge thanks to Joyce Jack, Peter Jack, James Campbell, Michael Campbell, Lorraine Aitken, David Hennessey, Ewan Mealyou, Annette Evans and Malcolm Evans for your dedicated and hard work today in the heat of the noon day sun in completing the magnificent achievement of leaving the student hut with almost everything in place. It was warm work well done :-) We greeted our first visitors Alan Riach SBA President and BB Examiner and Jane Slight SBA BB Examiner. See NBA FB page for pics
This note is to recommend that members heft your hives and put on a 1:1 sugar syrup feed if they feel light. Peter has flagged that the hives he is managing are all light following the recent rainy weather preventing the bees going out to forage and so using up their honey stores.
@Bee minders - thanks for checking the NBA hives you are minding and taking necessary action.
